The Sandy Spring Soccer Club (SSSC) offers recreational programs in the spring, fall, and winter. This program is strictly for beginner soccer players who are looking to explore soccer and have fun in a non-competitive environment. There is no season to season comitment for this program similar to our Junior Academy and Academy programs, but when a player signs up for a season the expectation is for the player to complete the season. The spring season is typically from late March – early June, the Fall season is from late August – early November, and the Winter indoor season runs from early January – mid-March.
Coaches are a mix of professional coaches who work with our Junior Academy and Academy programs, along with volunteer coaches. During the winter season, our professional coaches train the players twice a week. During the spring and fall seasons, our professional coaches train the players during the week and volunteer coaches may coach the teams on the weekends. There is positive feedback throughout the season and plenty of fun interactive games to keep the kids moving. We play various games like Dribble Tag, Red-Light Green Light, Get the Coach, 1 v 1, and so many more fun exercises. All of the players have a ball at their feet at all times, and our coaches are very much involved in their development and fun. Teams are grouped by 10-12 players.
Spring Season: March 11 – June 3, 2024
Deadline to register is March 4th.

Who: Boys & Girls Recreation level: Ages 4-8 years old. Players will be divided by age 4-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds.
Practice Days: Mondays and Wednesdays
At this age and skill level, we believe that the children must practice more than 1x per week if they are going to be able to compete in their league games on the weekends. We also believe that practices must start a couple of weeks prior to the start of the game season. The increase in practices has increased the cost, but not to worry, we are offering payments in 2 installments. We also encourage you to take full advantage of the other free resources provided in the club like Free Play Soccer Fridays to really get the most value out of your child’s soccer experience.
Game Days: Mostly Saturday games but there will be some Sunday games.
Practice Location: Sandy Spring Friends School (16923 Norwood Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860). After registering we will add your child to their team and you will have the full detailed schedule via TeamSnap with the days when we will be at Sherwood and the days that we will be at the Friends School.
Game Location: The players in this program play in the Maryland Developmental Soccer League and all games are played in Montgomery County mostly between Sandy Spring and Silver Spring.
Free Play Soccer (Optional): Fridays (Starting 4/5) – 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm. Players will be grouped by age and skill ability. This program is a free club run program to unite the Recreation program with our Junior Academy and Academy players. Players in the club can also invite their friends to Free Play.
Times (4-6 year olds): Mondays and Wednesdays – 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm, Saturdays Games (might play on some Sundays). Games are in the afternoons on Saturdays.
Times (7-8 year olds): Mondays and Wednesdays – 6:20 pm – 7:20 pm, Saturdays Games (might play on some Sundays). Games are in the afternoons on Saturdays.
Games: Most games are held on Saturday afternoons but some -games may be played on Sundays. Games are 4 v 4 without goalkeepers for the 4-6 year olds. Games are 5 v 5 with goalkeepers for the 7-8 year olds, and 7 v7 for the 9-10 year olds. Games may be against other youth soccer clubs on the weekends as well as intra-club games where the SSSC players compete against each other.
Cost: $295 per player if paid in full. Includes 21 practice sessions and 7-8 games + 1 uniform set – 2 jerseys, 1 pair of shorts, and 2 pairs of socks that must be worn for practices and games for the season.
Note – Players will only receive uniforms if they are new, have grown out of them, or the club changes the attire. Also note that the cost is $310 if paying in 2 installments.

SSSC reserves the right to combine age groups, if necessary.
If withdrawing before the beginning of the 1st practice session, the player will receive a pro-rated refund minus a $75 cancellation fee.
After the 1st practice session, there will be no refunds.
Partial refunds will not be given for missed practices or games.
